Brisbane set to say bienvenue to food icon’s latest venture

Renowned Brisbane Chef, Romain Bapst is preparing for the grand unveiling of his latest French cuisine venture, Lutèce Bistro & Wine Bar in Bardon.

Brisbane food icon Romain Bapst is perhaps best known in Brisbane dining circles for his 13 year tenure at Eagle Street institution II Centro, and later two years at Drift Milton and Brookwater.

Offering traditional French fare, the Lutèce Bistro & Wine Bar menu is given a modern twist with an Alsatian spirit, thanks to Mr Bapst’s rich Strasbourgeois heritage.

“Lutèce Bistro & Wine Bar is really a culmination of all my experience and passion for superb French cuisine,” Bapst revealed.

“We wanted to create an experience that pays homage to the quintessential French bistro, yet delivers a modern twist which will excite everyone from the casual diner through to the most educated gourmand,” he said.

Bapst’s newest menu, featuring an array of les cocottes (dishes cooked in cast-­‐iron pots), braised beef Baeckeoffe and the famous Cea’s spanner crab lasagna, is based on an ethos of superior produce prepared in a simple way that preserves its integrity, with dishes created using only the very finest local and French produce, including Moreton Bay bugs & Duck foie gras.

Indulge in Romain’s deboned and 24 hours braised stuffed oxtail with celeriac purée, mushroom and truffles, or if you’re feeling more adventurous, try the homemade terrine and pressée of calves tongue with duck foie gras served with onion and fig marmalade.

Lutèce, the French word for the ancient city Lutetia, was once part of the ancient Roman Empire and is today known as the centre of good food and style, Paris.

Lutèce Bistro & Wine Bar will welcome guests just in time to celebrate Bastille Day on July 14, with a weekend of flamboyant French frivolity planned.

Diners will enjoy sweeping views over Mt Coot-­‐Tha and the surrounding area from the newly revamped restaurant and bar, with seating for 80, and space for 180 during cocktail functions.
